Daegis, maker of the Daegis eDiscovery Platform for e-discovery and document review, wasn’t always known as Daegis. In fact, up to five years ago, it was Strategic Office Solutions (SOS). Deb Thornton, senior director of marketing at the company, wrote via e-mail that, “as one can imagine, clients thought SOS sounded like they had to use us because they were desperate.” With that name, the newly hired sales vice president felt the name put the company “in a position where we had to explain to clients what we DIDN’T do, before explaining what we did.”
